Rsepect this film deserves, yes. But after being spoilt with the exceptional quality of film available in the last twenty years, this film is well over the hill. For anyone in my generation or younger, don't try and pretend that you think this film is fabulous just because old people told you it is.
Make up your own mind!
Great in its day, but drawn out, overacted with a very old style of emotion. However he cinematography and epic proportion is superb still today. For something easier to swallow, without having to sit through old style cinema, I recommend Gladiator or if you're into old style stuff, try Citizen Kane.
