Review of Ben-Hur (1959) by Peter P — 07 Jul 2013
Epic, completely epic. Heaston is amazing as Judah Ben-Hur, Stephen Boyd does a great job as the once friend now power hungry soldier politician. Ben-Hur is a huge movie that although running too long is classic and incredibly powerful.
From the drama to the action, it covers all bases, and you get to see Jesus pop up sporadically through out the movie too, which was great (I didn't even know this was a biblical time story when I started watching it).
Also the chariot race is just groundbreaking (I am not sure if it was intentional or not, but George Lucas totally ripped it off in the pod race in Episode 1 of that terrible Starwars mistake) and how they got all those horses to behave so well is a feat in its own right.
So yeah, Epic.
