Review of Bellflower (2011) by Jonathan P — 22 Nov 2011
Holy shit. I don't even know where to begin. I hated the first 20-30 minutes of this film due to its mublecore tendencies. Yet, I was enjoying the cinematography and so I left it on. And I'm glad I did, because Bellflower got better and better.
The first act is bad. The second act is interesting. The final act was masterful. I'm still not sure what to think of the film as a whole. The acting was hard to look past and there are some mildly cliche moments.
Yet there is no question that Bellflower is a striking debut for director/writer Evan Glodell. Hard to believe it was shot for $17,000 dollars....
