Very moving and well-acted.
Covers all grounds on slavery, womanhood, law, and royalty.
Desperately asks the question of what a woman really needs to be in the world: should she have to marry even if financially secure? if be a slave or a woman are women really the property of a man regardless of their social status? does skin color really determine rank, class etc. ?
Aside from missing one crucial historical element 'Belle' knows what it's talking about and might even affect the strongest viewer.
