Review of Bella (2006) by Timothy B — 12 Jul 2008
Defies your typical Hollywood, formulaic codswallow. It avoids stereotypes and FINALLY presents minorities (in this case, Hispanics) in a normal, everyday setting instead of being gangsters, etc. There were no car chase scenes and explosions, gratutious sex and violence, etc.
I don't even remember any four letter words. A GREAT movie that celebrates LIFE! Really only deserves 4 stars as a film, but I'm giving it 5 for Monteverde's courage to do what he wanted.
