Review of Bella (2006) by Wesley H — 06 Dec 2008
Jose,(Eduardo Verástegui ) an ex-soccer player turned cook at his Brothers restaurant, befriends a fellow employee in her time of need when she finds out she is pregnant and moments later is fired for being late.
Through out the movie Jose's past is revealed. He carries a burden no man should. Through his care for his friend and how he views the world the depth of his heart becomes more evident. It is hard not to fall inlove with his character. The woman he befriends confused me a bit at first. Her character seemed flat and acting simple.Even though I now see reason for it I wish they had given her a little more depth. She felt so empty.
This was the first movie project of Metanoia Films and they did a beautiful job. One has to wonder if Eduardo is some what of a self portrait for Eduardo.
The soundtrack was just as good as the cinematography...all in all this movie is a must see.
