Review of Bella (2006) by Kelley H — 25 Jan 2010
Gorgeous and enthralling, this film delivers an excellent view of the complexity of relationships, and how they can be intensely romantic without being intimately involved. Carefully showing the weaving together of choice and chance without a hint of irony, the plot is artfully layered.
Despite being largely character-driven, the chemistry amongst the entire cast creates a powerful story of hope and uncommon family dynamics. In particular, Eduardo Verástegui's performance is brilliantly understated.
Neither too gritty nor too sweet, this unconventional story's atypical ending inspires.
