Review of Being There (1979) by Iven S — 02 Oct 2012
This is a very unusual film, I was never quite sure how to take it but what became evident is that the character of "Chance", had a peculiar affect on people & you could see why. It's an interesting premise and I like the way the movie moves along but I liked the way Peter Sellers played the character, neither here or there but perhaps genius.
..or maybe retarded. Its hard to explain but the other characters that met him usually got what they projected onto him. Interesting stuff. Not really a movie for the modern generation but a movie for people that like their films with a bit of intrigue and no real answers at the end.
... which is part of the charm.
