A very simple man who has never left his house becomes a beacon of hope to America during a difficult financial crisis. Being There is a highly observational political satire that still holds truth 30 years on.

Sellers does a remarkable job at creating a very sympathetic and accidentally intelligent man. His simplicity is mistaken for true wisdom and from here much of the humour is derided. Despite the OTT nature of the story it is grounded in realism and is never afraid to push it a bit further.

An unforgettable film that has you smiling and thinking throughout the running time.
