Review of Being There (1979) by Nick O — 24 Jan 2009
Main character Chance's (Peter Sellers, in his greatest work I've ever seen) power lies in simplicity that carries through to the entire movie. The movie is clear and doesn't try to blow away a viewer with effects or overdramatization.
Instead, a wonderful storyline with a plot that reminded me of the fantastic Wag The Dog--and with a beautiful triumphant ending--ranges from slums and criminals to the highest corridors of governmental power.
A majestic classic movie, very highly recommended.
