Review of Being the Ricardos (2021) by Claytaylor21 — 28 Dec 2021
Being the Ricardos isn't Aaron Sorkin's strongest work, but it's still a good film. Nicole Kidman gives one of the year's best performances as Lucille Ball, and old reliable Javier Bardem is also great as her husband and co-star.
The biggest problem with this movie for me was the nonlinear plot structure. There were flashbacks that felt unnecessary to the story's themes and events, and the inclusion of these scenes made the movie feel slightly disconnected.
This was really unfortunate because I felt invested in the storyline and probably would've rated this film very highly if not for these moments. Even so, I still enjoyed Being the Ricardos and would especially recommend it to those that are fans of Sorkin, Kidman, or I Love Lucy.
