Review of Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (2006) by Krista L — 13 Oct 2008
Very smart, postmodern take on the slasher genre. In a lot of ways it's very similar to Scream, but falls down in two main areas: 1.) Scream does a far superior job of mixing the comedy/horror aspect, and 2.
) The last 20 minutes or so of Behind the Mask devolves into the usual stereotypes and tropes. However, aside from that it's very clever, with lots of little nods and background references that will make fans smile.
