Review of Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (2006) by Cory W — 19 Jul 2009
This was a different movie, but was really good. The premise was that a group of journalists follow a madman serial killer on his quest to have his own big murder scenario (like the "greats" Jason, Freddie, and Michael Myers).
The movie plays off like a comedy, but slowly engulfs you a great plot twist that leads into an old school slasher showdown. Nathan Baesel was great as Leslie, the suprsisngly likeable madman. THe movie is odd in the sense that it is a dark comedy, but it slowly unfolds into an old-school horror.
It is enjoyable to watch, and is a must for any old school horror fan or fans of a mockumentary. Overall, a good dark comedy with great scares.
