Review of Behind the Candelabra (2013) by Dan B — 06 Jun 2013
A film that really gave you the feel of gays in the late 1970s and a fantastic story about the great Liberace. This has got to be one of Michael Douglas' best performances in a film yet. He was so good, so gay but portrayed him so well that you thought he was actually him.
Even Matt Damon was amazing as well and stands as one of his best films as well. The costumes and makeup were really fantastic for this film even with people that have plastic surgery but not in real life really made them look different on camera, it was awesome.
The music and piano playing was great as well. It was interesting to see Liberace's and Scott's relationship over time. With all the great music and performances everything made this film perfect.
It felt a little long but I was really sucked in the whole time. This film didn't have one bad or boring scene. Everything about it was very interesting and great, who ever loves the style of the 70s, Liberace or stories about musicians will love it.
