Review of Behind the Candelabra (2013) by Bobby C — 14 Jun 2013
The most curious thing about "Behind the Candelabra" is how it's supposedly Steven Soderbergh's last film. Now, whether or not that's true remains to be seen, but you can't help but finding yourself judging it a bit more harshly than you would his previous features.
Unsurprisingly, it's an exceptional motion picture. Soderbergh's direction is as brisk and stylish as ever and Richard LaGravenese's script is intelligent and funny, but it's the performances of Matt Damon and Michael Douglas that really sell the film.
You'll probably never look at either one of them the same way again.
