Review of Behind the Candelabra (2013) by Tasha M — 27 Sep 2013
This score is inspired most by the epic performances of Matt Damon and Michael Douglas, the latter in better form here than ever before in his storied career. The movie surrounding their performances, Behind the Candelabra as a whole, was sharp, direct, and deliberate: a nearly perfect semi-biopic of the final ten years of Liberace's life through his lover's point of view.
I have a soft spot for homosexual cinema but Behind the Candelabra can appeal to just about anyone looking for a solid, true story with top knotch actors and direction. The best TV-movie I've seen all year.
