Review of Before the Rain (1994) by Sze Yen C — 15 Jun 2008
Finally out on DVD. Hadn't seen it in 10 years, but holds up as one of the best filmmaking debuts I've ever seen. The circular nature of the story rewards multiple viewings: You're constantly noticing patterns and repetitions impossible to catch the first time around.
The Criterion Collection DVD is awesome.
