Review of Before Sunset (2004) by Mindy H — 16 Aug 2010
As a sequel, this movie accomplishes the impossible. Not only does it outshine the first, but it actually makes the first movie even better. It shows you that these dialogue heavy films are not simply a commentary on love, they are glimpses of what love and relationships look like from very specific age paradigms. A precious insight for those in their early 20's, and a beautiful tribute to those that have aged along with the characters.
So poignant, it portrays all of the subtle little nuances found in love and longing. It captures the frustration, desperation, and anxiety behind the attempt to form and hold on to a delicate romance, knowing that without action, the chance will pass, but that the slightest misstep could bring the whole thing crashing down.
