It trades the original's quirkiness for maturity. The sadness you get from watching the original turns into melancholy after viewing this; it gets you thinking about the movie characters' what-if's and probably, eventually, your own.
I liked "Before Sunrise" (1994) more, but perhaps that's because I find it easier to relate to that one--being that it's about young people. I'd like to watch "Before Sunset" in ten years maybe, and see if anything changes.
