Review of Before Sunset (2004) by Carlos J — 10 Jul 2013
Taking place 9 years after the first film (Before Sunrise), Before Sunset continues the talky and intimate relationship between the two paramours and explores if lighting can be struck twice. The answer is a resounding yes.
Part of what makes this one so compelling is seeing how these people have grown up. But the main takeaway from this film (and the first) is the dialogue. Having a movie about two people walking around (albeit in the beautiful city of Paris) and talking could have been very boring, but the brilliance lies in the way everything is laid out and executed.
Like the two characters the film centers on, the joy is the experience spending with them-only if it lasts for a few hours.
