Richard Linklater decided it was a good idea to take the whole "love at first sight" thing and have it be the primary focus of a 100 minute drama.
Richard Linklater is a genius.
You can be cynical all you want (given most movies like this how can you NOT be?), but I was hooked on these two characters. Their chemistry, personalities, hopes, fears and passions were exciting to me. Having to deal with only the unstobbale opstical of time, we watch two people meet, click and converse. It's unapologetically romantic, but smart and deep enough to pull even the most stonehearted viewer right in.
