Review of Before Midnight (2013) by Weili F — 12 Dec 2013
Still the best romantic film I have ever watched. You can see in them something you don't see among other couples, or something lots of people consider destroyed by marriage: passion. Their passion is displayed by their talking.
It almost feels like they just meet, have so much to share, and feel excited and novel about the other person's presence. I wonder how do they achieve that? Maybe when we select our mates, it's just so important to know that not only feelings matter, but also the realization that "hey, this fold really helps me grow ".
One thing I slight felt weird about the film. Somehow I felt that Jesse is being portrayed as the more powerful one in the relationship. He is the one who tried to calm the whole situation down and ask the "hysterical" Celine to collect herself together.
He is the one who finally went to Celine and tried to save the relationship. Somehow traditional?
