Review of Before Midnight (2013) by Zachary N — 21 Sep 2014
Having picked up what is left off once 9 years ago once again, the love story continues on a Peloponnesian Island in Greece. Inheriting the wise and farsighted dialogues adopted 18 years ago, Jesse and Celine finally complies with the audience's expectation, only this time we find the film romantic no more.
It's now highly secular with down-to-earth routine bedevilment. The protagonists have entered a new stage they have spare parts of their soul for the next generation. Romance has become suspicion, jealousy, stress and worries, which aren't we the audience looks for, yet realistically unavoidable.
Despite time waits for no one as we can tell from the appearance of Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy, love never changes. The confession of Jesse on imperfectness is the most moving part, which also reveals the theme of the third part of this story.
And that is the most important thing: incapability shouldn't be the obstacle to pursue and hold firm the significance in your life. Accept it and you will just be fine.
