Review of Before Midnight (2013) by Sean H — 20 Mar 2014
Wow. This was an affecting and emotionally exhausting, and simultaneously satisfying watch. How realistically these characters develop is amazing, and this time we really see them struggle. Death has been a recurring theme throughout the series, and this time it feels as if Celine and Jesse are in a way dealing with their own mortality, and what that means to them and their relationship; perhaps this is the most brutally honest film of the trilogy. It's as fascinating as ever, and this time not only do we get their remarkable two-way conversation, but we get new opinions and perspectives from people in their lives, and we see how this affects and impacts them.
So, 2022?
