Review of Before I Go to Sleep (2014) by David S — 30 Jan 2015
Whatever Nicole Kidman did to her lips has been undone. She looks smashing. Naked in the first scene and playing a character half a dozen years younger than her age, she's totally believable. Still, this isn't a review of Kidman's beauty (well, not completely) there is a movie here, sadly it's not as interesting as its leading lady's looks.
Kidman, plays a woman with that Memento disease, she can't generate new memories. Each morning she wakes up not knowing her husband, her true age, and... well anything about her life. She doesn't know why she's this way, her husband says accident, a doctor who's secretly treating her says she was beaten.
Who's right? Well. What do you think? Ultimately the movies predictability (especially after seeing Gone Girl) dooms it, but it does have a few surprises and a star turn by Kidman, ably supported by Colin Firth.
Still, with two Academy Award winning actors this film seems a little lightweight. Not a disaster, just slightly disappointing.
