Review of Before I Go to Sleep (2014) by Steve W — 28 Mar 2015
Before I Go to Sleep is mildly entertaining, the first half brings plenty of good intrigue, but once the real answers come out, things just get unacceptably ridiculous. I don't know, it's just not as smart nor as fun as it tries to be when it gets there.
No matter how much classy production and great actors they put on screen, its choices are still generic elements that mostly exist in your everyday action thrillers that you watch on television when you're bored in an afternoon.
It's an amazing trick, too bad those illusions aren't strong enough. Maybe just like what I've said, this is best when you have nothing else to watch in a boring afternoon, but there is so much potential around this concept and its themes that could bring this story so much more.
It's disappointing how they didn't try working much of that out.
