Review of Before I Go to Sleep (2014) by Tony P — 25 May 2015
Neat thriller featuring 'strong' (pardon the pun) performances from its main cast Nicole Kidman, Colin Firth and Mark Strong.
Kidman plays Christine Lucas who now suffers from anterograde amnesia following an accident 14 years previous.
The amnesia theme is being explored perhaps too frequently in films recently (I am thinking of the dementia in Still Alice).
Colin Firth is her seemingly loving, loyal husband Ben or is he? Oops.
With the aid of Dr. Nash a neurologist (Mark Strong) Christine slowly remembers things about her past.
It is a refreshing change not to see Firth playing some bumbling English aristocratic figure.
The themes of this film certainly beat some supposed 'horror' films Ive seen recently.
