Review of Beetlejuice (1988) by Kristopher P — 27 Oct 2012
This may be the most original film of Tim Burtonâ(TM)s career. I mean, just look at the poster. I was first introduced to this by the cartoon that was spun off of this movie, on Nickelodeon. Which, if youâ(TM)ve ever seen this movie, youâ(TM)ve got to wonder what in this made someone go, âThis so should be a saturday morning cartoon!â? I also found it weird that Beetlejuice became the main protagonist in the cartoon when in the movie, heâ(TM)s pretty much the villain and doesnâ(TM)t even really come in until halfway through.
All that being said, Beetlejuice is a hilarious, dark comedy about the dead, the living, and how they all learn to get along. I would love to see more original Burton ideas like this in the future.
