Review of Beetlejuice (1988) by Alex W — 03 Dec 2012
Blending supernatural thrills and ghostly skepticism with family-friendly frivolity and beguiling visuals, Tim Burton's admirable classic is undoubtedly one of the most memorable movies of the 1980s.
High-concept narrative and meticulous mise-en-scene make for a viewing experience that's absorbing, amusing and highly entertaining throughout; and Michael Keaton's zebra-striped bio-exorcist remains a fancy dress favourite to this very day.
Charming, whimsical and wonderfully unique, Burton's Beetlejuice is a definite must-see. Just be sure never to say his name three times.
