Review of Bee Season (2005) by Pam F — 25 Jul 2007
I know this movie came out in 2005 and if my wife hadn't TIVO'd it I never would have watched it. As it turns out, never would have been the right time to see it. The decent performances were lost on a mess of a story that has no resolution. Somehow the daughter throwing the spelling bee at the end of the movie makes everything right. If you haven't seen the movie and I just gave away the ending I accept the credit for saving 105 minutes of your life. You're welcome.
It is hardly worth the effort to recap the tripe that supposedly serves as a story. There is conflict generated for no apparent reason and it is never resolved with the exception of everything being made right by the purposeful misspelling of "origami." Maybe that is the hidden meaning...the complexity folded from a simple sheet of paper shows how we can transcend our complex existence by deconstructing the convolusions of our souls...or you can make up some other BS...or better yet don't waste your time.
