Review of Becket (1964) by Jeremy W — 03 Aug 2007
Too bad the director of the original play was retained to shoot the movie version. This film not much more than a stilted recording of the play still stuck "on the stage." Though Thomas Becket's conversion from whoring buddy of the king to pious Christian is not clearly dramatized, the performances of Burton (Becket) and O'Toole (Henry II) make it somewhat worth watching.
