Review of Becket (1964) by Morten S — 08 Apr 2009
Excellent movie, portraying the tension between church and state authority in England long before Henry VIII. It was interesting to see O'Toole's King Henry II anguish over the loss of his friendship with Becket, when Henry himself betrayed the "friendship" through a cruel, but perhaps necessary, assertion of his authority as king at Becket's expense.
Peter O'Toole and Richard Burton give riveting performances.
