Review of Becket (1964) by Victoria W — 27 Sep 2007
Absolutely perfect. I've been trying to find one single flaw in it for hours, and I just can't find it: the story is incredibly strong, the screenplay is positively brilliant, the settings and costumes are perfect, and the acting.
.. oh, the acting. Two of the greatest actors Britain gave birth to, in their prime, in a delightful showdown of talent and strength. While every other element of the film is also perfect, it's decidedly Richard Burton and Peter O'Toole who make the movie, giving two of the greatest performances of all time.
.. but, myself, I prefer O'Toole.
