Review of Because I Said So (2007) by Keenan S — 11 Oct 2012
Because I Said So is an absolutely horrific romantic comedy that seems to have inexplicably gained a large number of favorable reviews among the users of this site (68% What drugs were you on? You need to pass them my way!).
This film tries to focus on mother-daughter relationships and fails disastrously since the mother character is controlling, annoying, and moronic. Unfortunately, the daughter character doesn't fair much better, since she struggles to decide which of the two men she's dating she really loves and also does really stupid things.
This film is immensely cliched, and very boring to watch. The jokes are also beyond bad, and feel like a random assortment of jokes culled from a wide variety of comedies from screwball to sex comedies.
The film also has a bizarre obsession with orgasms, the mother and her daughters seem way too comfortable talking about sex and other sex-related topics, and the characters also act like they're suffering from a bipolar disorder since their emotions shift so dramatically.
This is nothing more than a putrid chick flick that isn't funny and at times ends up being more horrifying than most actual horror films.
