Review of Beauty and the Beast (2017) by Robert R — 07 Jun 2017

While I wasn't a huge fan of Jungle book, at least it tried to do something different with the story. This movie really only serves as a reminder of how good the original is. The casting and singing are lackluster.

The live-action-ness amplifies the ludicrous elements of the plot, leaving me realize that only the animated film could take such an odd story and make it work. One thing I will say is I do like the new song they added for thee Beast - it is quite lovely.

Beyond that, I felt that this was a fairly pointless film that tries really hard to be as good as the original, but trying to hard ultimately holds it back from doing its own thing.
