However visually stunning, this adaptation isn't new or thoughtful enough to warrant a live-action remake of the beloved 1991 animated original. There are added musical numbers which feel unnecessary and inhibiting to the story's intent as well as an over stereotype of the original films characters so that when an artistic choice does deviate from what we know and love and are now expecting, there is a bad attention drawn to that moment.

I wanted to love this movie, but found myself wanting to go back to the original.
