Review of Beauty and the Beast (2017) by Duperghoul — 10 Apr 2017
I'm only saying this once, this is not the same Beauty and the Beast, as the 90s movie. Directly once the movie starts, we get a better explanation of the enchantress's curse on Beast and the castle. Gaston is more evil in this adaption. In the original, he seemed to act like any normal man would do to protect his town and grieving over rejection. Here, he enters the film as a cheap dirtbag who will do whatever it takes for his lust over Belle. Even if that means pushing around his best friend, LeFou. That being said, LeFou is great in this movie. LeFou has so much new likable dialogue. He even gets development during the course of the film.
Tons of other characters have great new events, too. This includes Belle's mother's backstory. Beast even gets a song.
