Review of Beauty and the Beast (2017) by Mattyice — 25 Mar 2017
Disney generally hits the right notes (no pun intended) again with its re-imagining of its Beauty and the Beast musical. The performances are great all around, makes enough changes to separate itself from the legendary animated film, the characters are still very developed, and, thankfully, the music is still catchy as ever.
However, Emma Watson's singing voice is absolutely over-autotuned, the CGI is a bit jarring for Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, and the rest, and, of course, it's still a remake that will now deem the original as "the old one," a process I hate.
For its pros and cons, this remake is solid.
