Review of Beauty and the Beast (2017) by Jessica%20 R — 06 Apr 2017
I was seriously reluctant about seeing this film, I remember the one from the 90's as a kid and I am getting sick of these Disney redoes. Glad that I went and saw it, totally worth the time and money.
Emma Watson is amazing and Dan Stevens lends his voice to the heart breaking beast, giving him a new sound that holds tight to your heart. My biggest fear had been Josh Gad playing the problematic role of Le Fou, but I was glad to see my concern was unfounded.
Gad brings a new depth to this character, taking him out of the faggotry of the 1990's and into modern times. He is a man in love with an asshole, he knows this and can not seem to stop himself. Le Fou manages to both amuse the audience and keep Gaston in check, for the most part.
The more indepth look at the villagers lives and the castle inhabitants relationships makes this movie an instant success as you find a tighter connection to everyone, not just Beauty and the Beast.
