Review of Beauty and the Beast (2017) by Reel H — 16 Aug 2017
Highly entertaining and terrific movie. Saw the movie in the theater, then bought it on BluRay disc. CGI effects were first rate and the casting of the roles were pitch perfect. The standout acting performances were Emma Watson as Belle, Kevin Kline as Maurice, Luke Evans as Gaston, Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, and Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts. Brought my childhood favorite animated classic to life as well as could be imagined and presented in live action.
Emma Watson was a fabulous and superb casting choice to play the role of Belle. Another actress who comes to mind that might have played the role of Belle as well as Emma Watson is probably Keira Knightley (FYI, Keira Knightley has been cast to play the lead role in Disney's movie remake of the "Nutcracker" scheduled to be released next year November 2018). Both actresses are talented & radiant, with fearless, strong-willed, independent personas combined with their sweet, charming, and natural European born speaking accents that fit well with the European style setting and background of this movie's storyline. Emma Watson and the other cast members each gave solid acting and admirable singing performances all-around.
Great accomplishment to all involved in the movie! Congratulations to the film on becoming only the 8th movie in US Domestic box office history to gross $500+ million in it's theater run along with being an all-time Top 10 worldwide total box office gross of $1.26+ billion is quite the achievements. Let the haters of this spectacular movie remake complain, while the larger mass audience of viewers celebrates & congratulates....lol.
