This film was almost a legend to me before I saw it. I had heard everyone, mind you everyone, talking about it and I missed my shot at seeing it on the big screen. So I had to wait...
In the meantime I saw a New York stage production of it with a cast of entirely delightful actors who brought this simple little play from England, and these fabulous characters, to life for me.
Natch, I had to see the movie and, from that day, it has been one of my favourites.
The one liners are the kind of things you write down and try to work into your own vocabulary and the people you watch are the ones you look for out in the real world, hoping to meet them so your life will be more fun, more interesting and more human.
With great performances all around and the exuberent underscorings of Mama Cass, Beautiful Thing is one of those movies that I have found you can mention to people and they will say "I LOVE that movie".
