Review of Beautiful Girls (1996) by Margaret A — 03 Dec 2007
The best part was definitely Natalie Portman but Noah Emmerich was great too, especially when he's skating with his daughters and he sees Timothy Hutton catch Natalie Portman. Classic reaction. Uma Thurman was sort of wasted but everyone was pretty good.
Lauren Holly was pretty one-note since she was more of a plot-device than a character but it's understandable. Mira Sorvino, besides being skinny as hell (which was part of the script), looked gorgeous.
Rosie O'Donnell was pretty funny. I actually liked her. She's pretty good in supporting roles. Michael Rapaport was his usual self which wasn't bad at all. Matt Dillon was a little more quiet this time around but he was also pretty much the same character he always plays.
Again, not bad. All in all, it was a decent flick with a great cast, a good soundtrack and a few moments of genuine honesty. Now if only I had a friend like Noah Emmerich who would be willing to beat up a guy to avenge me and a great girl like Mira Sorvino.
