Jeremy Irons was wonderful in the part of Lena's Uncle Macon Ravenwood. I must say that the character who played Ethan Wate used the accent to his advantage. But I did not expect it at first. I expected that this would be a sad and depressing movie.

The cause of that is, having read the book, I didn't think that anyone could make this good movie. But it did come out as a very good movie. It did not follow the book very well at all. That is the reason that I give it only 4 out of 5 stars.

But I think that overall it was a very good movie.
