Review of Beautiful Boy (2018) by Mariam S — 05 Jan 2019
I watched BB and surprisingly, loved it. Particularly, the last 20-30 minutes of it. Yes. It doesn't have a plot. But, it's shot like a documentary depicting a chronicle of one family having a problem with drug addict in it.
Plus, it is a memoire of two persons (mostly father) remembering good and bad times and the cycles of relapse and recovery. What I liked the most is as follows: 1. cinematography; 2. music; 3. acting of Timmy and in particular, Steve Carrel.
What did not like: 1. plot could have been more solid and character development could have been more vivid and dramatic; 2. acting of Steve and Timmy was not steady. There were some overacting from both sides.
Anyway, I loved the movie. Most importantly, it touches upon very serious problem over the globe and people should watch it, particularly teens!!!!!!!
