Review of Beautiful Boy (2011) by Sarah H — 18 Oct 2011
Beautiful Boy is essential about the grief a family deals with when their son shoots up a college before killing himself. The topic is sad and horrible, and all too true to reality. I think the movie gives great perspective into what a family whose son is responsible goes through.
I think we forget that they are victims too, or maybe even don't care. I found this film very upsetting despite its slow nature, and the fact that nothing really was going on through most of the film.
Nonetheless, I could not rate it any less because it was intriguing, sad, interesting, and a bit thought provoking. It is really sad that this topic has become a fearful issue for parents and families.
