Review of Beatriz at Dinner (2017) by Partho M — 20 Jul 2017
Remarkably shallow in content, clichéd and trite like a film school grad project that got a D. Here Mr. Arteta has missed his own point in finding healers and destroyers in 99% and 1%. I am still not sure of the point of the film.
Even discounting the end that shamelessly plagiarized Coming Home, this pretentious waste of money (mine that is) is stabbing honest efforts of thoughtful directors who have worked on the theme. Sorry for Lithgow who did his best, great that he is, to be stuck in this un imaginative narrative of an unimaginative theme.
It will be to everyone's good if Mr. Arteta best stick to his drawing comedies without taxing his mind.
