Review of Beat the Devil (1953) by Kevin M. W — 15 Jun 2009
I think Roger Ebert's assessment of John Huston's "Beat the Devil" as a "great movie" is a bit of an overstatement. It's an odd film with the con plot all over the place, and the main attraction is watching these character actors (Bogart, Robert Morley, Peter Lorre) recite Truman Capote's zany dialogue.
