Review of Beat the Devil (1953) by Andrew I — 31 Dec 2009
An odd film that alternates between confusing and riotously entertaining. in a different film universe this same premise would be a noir drama, but here many of the characters are incompetent, so the humor arises in much the same way that it does in 'burn after reading.
' they -think- they're in a spy thriller, but really it's a farce. fun though uneven, some of the comedic style reminded me of early speilberg's setup and payoff.
