Review of Beat Street (1984) by Pete-Debbie K — 11 Apr 2009
A true hip-hop classic. There are those (like me) who are more into the hip hop of today, but have yet to have experienced the true roots of it. Look no further than Beat Street.
Favorite parts:
The Christmas bit with Magnificent Force and the three dudes + Doug E Fresh.
The Roxy battle between the Rock Steady Crew and the NYC Breakers.
Melle Mel and the Furious Five's funky bit at the end, with Rock Steady and the NYC Breakers performing.
Us Girls at the club.
Afrika Bambaataa and the Soulsonic Force's cameo.
