Review of Beasts of the Southern Wild (2012) by Jackson P — 13 Nov 2013
It took a second viewing for me to fully appreciate Beasts. Great acting, great story, great setting, great cinematography, great narration. A little girl makes an incredible adventure through life to conquer her fear of death and realizes she must co-exist with the cruelties of the universe and not fight them.
Q. Wallis is spectacular and portrays one of the most memorable characters in recent film history. I haven't seen Lincoln yet, but Beasts gets my vote for best picture. "Once there was a Hushpuppy, and she lived with her daddy in the Bathtub.
